The lesser-known erstwhile princely state of Sandur, located in the beautiful South Indian state of Karnataka, is a place popular for its scenic beauty. It was a Maratha princely state, before independence, that was established by Shrimant Sidalji Ghorpade, a Maratha nobleman around 1700 CE. During the 18th century, this area came under the ruling of the Nizam of Hyderabad and laree under the British rulers.
